15 OCTOBER - 21 NOVEMBER 2026 THE MAIN GALLERY
PARTICIPATE LOCAL ARTIST EXHIBITION AND AWARDS
Warwick Art Gallery's pARTicipate local artist exhibition and awards began in 2011 with the goal to offer local artists the opportunity to exhibit and receive recognition for their work alongside their Southern Downs peers. It provides local artists with a platform to exhibit in a professional gallery setting and acknowledges and awards excellence and contemporary regional stories.
Artists who live on the Southern Downs or within 75km of the Warwick CBD are invited to enter. TWO artworks per artist representing one of the following SEVEN media categories will be accepted for display:
Drawing Ceramics Mixed Media Painting Printmaking Sculpture Textiles
There will be four major prizes awarded: FIRST PRIZE $1000, SECOND PRIZE $500, THIRD PRIZE $250 and THE JASON GARD MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR AN EMERGING ARTIST $500. We will also present ENCOURAGEMENT PRIZES of $250 and the PEOPLE'S CHOICE VOTE AWARD of $250.
TERMS OF ENTRY
- TWO entries per artist. Artists must be over the age of 18 to enter.
- No work will be accepted or exhibited without payment of the entry fee. Entry fee of $15 for Warwick Art Gallery members and $18 for non members to be submitted with the entry form. Entry Forms are due on TUESDAY 15 SEPTEMBER.
- Works for sale will attract a commission rate of 30% (plus GST of the commission). Payment for works sold will be made within 30 days of the close of the exhibition. Entries do not have to be for sale. Mark as NFS on the entry form.
- Entries must have been created in the previous 12 months.
- All work submitted must be labelled on the back with the artist’s name, title of the work and contact details.
- 2D and hanging textile artwork must not exceed 150 cm in any direction including the frame. Dimensions (i.e. Height, Width, Depth) of 3D artwork must not exceed 300cm cumulatively.
- The Gallery Director reserves the right to not exhibit work if space is limited or if the work is deemed inappropriate or if the work is not suitably framed and/or presented. If an artist’s work is not selected to exhibit the entry fee of $15/$18 will be refunded. Generally poor quality presentation is the main reason that a work is not displayed. If you are unsure about framing, please ask us for advice.
- All paintings must be dry and framed. Works on paper should be framed with a matte board unless the artwork is designed to be installed differently. Please talk to the Gallery about this when lodging your application. 2D works MUST have 2 “D” rings. A stretched canvas is considered framed, but must have “D” rings attached. Our hanging system requires two “D” rings positioned as close to the top of the artwork without it showing. Textile works must be ready to display - by rod, pin, fishing line or 3M Command strip. Self installation of Textile and 3D work will be allowed only if prior arrangements are made.
- By entering the competition, artists give permission for their work to be reproduced in any form of the media related to the promotion of the event.
- Entrants are responsible for packing, freighting and insurance charges. The Warwick Art Gallery accepts no liability for loss or damage in the course of transit. Transit Insurance remains the responsibility of the exhibitor. All due care will be taken of entries submitted. Appropriate security will be in place during the Gallery’s possession of art works.
- All works should be delivered to the Gallery at 49 Albion Street, Warwick, Queensland by Wednesday 7 October 2026 at 4pm. All work must be delivered during gallery hours.
- Unsold work can be collected from Tuesday 24 November. Work not collected within 30 days of the exhibition closing will become the property of Warwick Art Gallery Inc.
- Award winners will be announced on Friday 16 October at 6.00pm.
- People’s Choice Vote winner will be announced on Tuesday 24 November 2026
