The Red Dress: Conversations in Stitch is a beautifully illustrated publication that celebrates and documents the remarkable global collaborative embroidery project, The Red Dress. Released in May 2025 to mark World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, the book delves deeper into the stories, experiences, and cultural connections woven into every stitch, while introducing new perspectives from contributors across the project.



Within its pages, readers will discover moving personal accounts from embroiderers alongside reflections on significant milestones in the dress's journey—from its creation between 2009 and 2023 to its continuing international exhibition tour. The book also includes insights from creator Kirstie Macleod and participating organisations, as well as specially commissioned essays exploring themes of empowerment, healing, resilience, cultural exchange, and community, highlighting the lasting impact of The Red Dress on participants and audiences alike.
